East Norwalk Blue Takes Over Pump Out Program

East Norwalk Blue, Inc. (ENB) is taking over the Soundkeeper  Pump Out Program. Officially kicking off on Memorial Day, ENB’s pump out boats will be on the water covering no-discharge areas from Port Chester to City Island, NY and from Darien to Bridgeport, CT. This free mobile pump out service operates from May thru October. Pump out operations in Bridgeport run Friday – Sundays and on federal holidays during this time.

Boaters throughout the pump out area can request pump out services through the ENB website:

For boaters from Port Chester to City Island, you can hail an ENB boat on VHF channel 77.

Boaters in Bridgeport can hail service on VHF channel 68.

The entire Western Long Island Sound is designated as a No-Discharge-Area (NDA). Localized discharges of raw sewage can degrade water quality, increase nutrient loading, and negatively effect sensitive aquatic habitats. Keep the Sound healthy by using pump outs! For your on board waste tank needs, just remember:

ENB’s free service is generously supported by a grant from the Federal Clean Vessel Act, which is administered by the US Fish & Wildlife Service and the CT Department of Environmental Protection and NY State Department of Environmental Conservation. The remainder of the program costs (25%!) are supported with funds from our membership and other generous donors. Our “clean boating” education and outreach activities are supported by the CT Department of Environmental Protection.

Additional support for the pumpout program has been provided by the following sources:

        • Woman’s Seamen’s Friend Society of Connecticut, Inc.
        • Northeast Utilities
        • Keyspan Energy
        • Town of Westport, CT
        • Village of Mamaroneck
