Soundkeeper calls for 50% reduction in Manhaden commercial catch

Soundkeeper recently testfied at the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commissions hearing in Bridgeport CT regarding commercial catch limits of Manhaden (Bunker). Soundkeeper joins with the Pew Environmental group in calling for a 50% reduction in catch along the Alantic coast of this important forage fish. Soundkeeper’s Pumpout Season comes to a close today.

Soundkeeper’s Pumpout Season is closed to new submissions. The pumpout program pumped out over 2,000 sewage holding tanks from vessels keeping sewage from our waters, bathing beaches and shellfishing beds. We will be cleaning up the back log and will start the decommissioning process of the boats and equipment.
